Real Estate in Maggie Valley NC attracts those looking to escape the sweltering summer heat, because here in the valley and surrounding towns temperatures are often 10 to 15 degrees cooler than that of neighboring Asheville. Located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains in Haywood County
is the small-populated tourist town of Maggie Valley. Maggie Valley is located in one of the highest valleys east of the Mississippi.
Maggie Valley got its name when John Setzer established a post office there in 1904. John Setzer established the post office out of necessity,
as prior to Setzer’s post office, individuals were hired to deliver and retrieve mail from a nearby post office. Plotts post office was located 5 miles outside the valley. Setzer then needed to name the post office, and after several names were submitted and few rejected the building was named. John Setzer named the post office after his daughter, Maggie.
The delightful town of Maggie Valley is a great vacation destination for families visiting the Smokey Mountains, as it is home to
Ghost Town
Maggie Valley, a family amusement park, and
Cataloochee Ski Area.
Ghost Town in the Sky offers rides for both kids
and adults, as well as staged gunfights, live
music and shows, crafts, and food all in an Old
West setting. Maggie Valley also offers motorcycle enthusiasts a piece of history with the All American Transportation Museum. The museum features more than 250 rare American motorcycles and automobiles. Maggie Valley
is the perfect place for this museum, because of
the hundreds of miles of scenic driving routes for motorcyclists
winding through the surrounding mountains.
